If you have lost your brace or thrown it out by mistake you will have to pay for a replacement.

Under the NHS full payment of the the replacement brace is required before your orthodontist fits a new brace for you. The NHS, through Forth Valley Health Board, may fund part or all of the replacement. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Contact the practice and advise the receptionist what has happened.
  2. An appointment will be arranged for you to attend and complete the necessary papaerwork to claim for funding from the Health Board for the replacement of the brace.
  3. If you are prepared to pay for the brace and wait for any refund the Health Board grant treatment can be started straightaway. The practice will refund all or part of the fee once you have been informed by Forth Valley Health Board of the amount.
  4. If you are not prepared to pay for the replacement of the brace your treatment will be suspended until a decision is made. Please note that this could be detrimental to the treatment you are undergoing.

The practice do not have any influence over the decision taken by the Health Board.
